About Me
My name is Gina Nicole Salminen, call me Nikki please. The man forever standing by my side in the picture is my husband Joel. We live in the Twin Cities, happily married, adopted the best black labrador retriever ever to exist, because he has an old soul. He has been a being in our small family for 7 years. My husband is a network engineer, and I am a Medical Laboratory Technician, unable to work.
I am unable to work because I suffer from chronic pain that is not related to an inflammatory or autoimmune disease. But I have learned that chronic pain sydrome is now considered as a disease state in itself. I have been dealing with this since 2002. I don't complain about it though because I truly believe that I am going through this for a reason that will reveal itself as soon as I can fathom its wisdom. I am truly blessed with a wonderful husband who understands me like the back of his hand. A pain clinic that does the best it possibly can for me. A low occurance of stigma attatched to me because of the medications I'm on. I do pray everyday that I will be able to find a surgery that will fix my whacky winging scapulas, and that I can become and advocate for those who have chronic pain that will be in their lives longterm.

Please, Nikki, get your VITAMIN D level checked immediately. See my profile for more information about vitamin D. I am a bio-engineering student. I suffered for almost 4 years with increasing pain to the point of collapse last October. I lost my job because I just couldn't function anymore (I was a research assistant in the engineering dept at my university). No-one would believe me that I was really sick. It took 22 doctors to figure out that I had a vitamin D deficiency. I am finishing up taking classes at a pain clinic, and I can't tell you how many people there didn't know about this and were dumbfounded when they checked their levels and were found to be deficient and are finally getting help after years of chronic pain. Please, get your level checked, and read my profile as it has important info that will help you. Good luck.
Anyone with chronic pain that is not associated with an autoimmune disease, view my profile and maybe we can ban together and get something done!
Anyone with chronic pain, maybe we could start like a conference support group. Also please tell me your story, I am really looking for others who have chronic pain without an inflammatory or autoimmune disease causing it. To those with chronic pain without an inflammatory disease causing it like fibromyalgia, it is hard to find support groups out there. So maybe we can all help each other.
