ROSEACEA

I was wondering if Accutane would help roseacea........none of the docs I have seen have mentioned it, but I am just wondering.  I'm desperate for some help.  I'm tired of the REDNESS.

Hi Linda,

I haven't heard of Accutane being used for Roseacea. Usually it's reserved for severe cases of acne.  Is it your doctor or your dermatologist who is trying to help you?  The lastest treatment I am aware of is Lasar Jet treatment, and it's only done by a few doctors I'm told.  Runs about $2000+ and may require up to 5 treatments.  This would be an excellent question for Dr. O.

Hi !  I don't know about the Accutane but I have roseacea also and have a few suggestions. I have been using olive oil soap and find it to be soothing to my face and body. Kiss My Face has a variety of bars.

If I am in the sun I need a moisturizer with sunscreen since the sun will cause the condition to worsen.

Also, I have to watch eating alot of spicy foods and if I get emotionally upset or cry it will worsen because

the blood vessels are more dilated.   I hope something here is helpful if not, I also have creams that I

alternate using, when needed, that were prescribed by my DR. using one in the morning and the other at

night..   I  sincerely hope you find what works for you.

I also have Roseacea and have for many years. I have found that taking a low dose of Doxycycline (maintenance) helps control my redness. I also use only warm water or warm water and white Dove soap on my face (never a wash cloth and only pat dry) and Olay for sensitive skin no less than 2 times a day. As for make-up I only use Bare Essentials on my face. I found that it works so much better covering up any flaw/redness that appears with Roseacea. Stay out of direct sunlight or ALWAYS use a good sun screen if you can't avoid the direct sun. TRY to avoid stress, being upset and spicey foods, too, as they tend to bring out more redness. Also, if you blow your hair dry, try using a low/cooler setting when drying your hair closest to your face.

If trying any of the suggestions from this and other posts don't seem to help, I suggest seeing a good dermo. He/she should be able to help you and offer some "cosmetic" suggestions, too.

Accutane won't help with Roseacea unless you have really bad acne with it, and then it will only help with the acne. Believe me -- one that's had both at the same time and used Accutane. The acne went away but the Roseacea is still here.

I sincerly hope these and the other posters suggestions help.

Good Luck!
