Is the 17 Day Diet All It's Cracked Up To Be?

As I walked through the local grocery store I saw a tidy purple book in a stack of well thumbed recipe guides. The Title immediately popped out at me The 17 Day Diet. I had never heard of the 17 Day Diet or Dr. Mike Moreno. I was looking to drop a few pounds (like 30) and thought this was the book for me. I decided to give it a try and make my own mind up about this diet.

Cost

The modest book price and the layout is easy to follow. Broken into different 'cycles' the book offers clear explainations as to how the diet works and for me the big sale was having menu plans and recipes. For me, following a diet is much easier if I know what I'm eating when, and what to plan for for the day.

Day 1

I read the book and it made so much sense. Portion size, fresh veg, low carbohydrates and exercise. This is stuff I heard before. Not new ideas! Why would this make a difference? How will I survive my 17 Day Diet weight loss?

I weighed in and began a journal. In it I include:

  1. weight
  2. what I will do today - I will exercise for 17 minutes, I will walk 20 minutes minimum, I will eat freash veg and fruit, I will drink 8 glasses of water. This is like an afformation ~ I will succeed!
  3. Successes! - Always record your successes.

As a middle aged 50 something woman, I found that this year was a difficult year to get weight off and keep it off. I'm on day 3 now and have lost 4 pounds. The Elusive 5 pound mark is looming in my midst and I am sure I will succeed.

Today is day 3 on the 17 day diet. I will progress and have the positive mental attitude. Want to follow me and share your strategies to survive the 17 Day Diet and lose those pounds? Then visit http://www.HowISurviviedThe17DayDiet.blogspot.com and join me.

I am right there with you, I turn 50 next summer and the closer I get to that age (or I guess just older) the harder it is to keep the weight off. When I came across this book at my local B&N I decided what did I have to lose, cut out my starches and cards for 17 days, increase my workout to daily instead of 3 times a week and see where I go. I am on day 6 and my weight is up and down, but I have lost 4 pounds which makes me happy. And I have not missed my startches or carbs this week at all!!

Congratulations on your 4 pound lose and I wish you the best of luck!!
