Hashimoto's thyroiditis
Anyone?!?! Why is it so hard to get a doctor that listens and helps? First it took two years and five different doctors to find out what was wrong with me. A simple blood test was all it took. I was starting to think I was just crazy. One doctor even told me I had to snap out of it and get my fat ass off the couch. Once I was diagnosed they put me...

I don’t know much about PSH levels as I don’t have hyperparathyroidism. I have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (hypothyroidism). I do know that the current TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) levels are 0.3 to 3.0 (used to be 0.5 to 5.0). You would be surprised how many doctors/labs are still using the old ranges. Here’s the tricky part, you sort of have to find what TSH level works for you. For me 0.0-0.3 is what I need to function. Keep track of your symptoms and learn to read your blood work. You want a doctor that will work with you, not just put you on meds and leave you there. Also you should watch your diet and beware of which foods worsen your symptoms. I have to stay away from gluten and bad carbs (processed foods) or I get foggy brained, extremely tired, depressed and bloated. A good place online for thyroid info is http://thyroid.about.com/ . I hope this was helpful.
I just read your info and you seem well informed. My doctor just took a TSH test but not as defined as yours. It showed my parathyroid is elevated and my PSH. What are the #'s and range for good results. I now have to see an endocrinologist and want to be more informed so any advise would help. Thank you
