Was watching today's episode of The Doctor's, and the party for Go Red. It really hit home, my mom had a massive heart attack a yr and half ago. Never even knew she had heart disease. On Feb. 3, 2010, my mom called me with hurting under her armpits, and she had done exercise the day before, so we all thought she was just sore from the exercising, well on the morning of Feb.04, she called still hurting and her speech was so slurred, I could not understand her. Well me living a hr + away, I headed for my mom and dads house. When I got there I could tell something wasn't right, so we headed for the er in our hometown, well when we got there, she was having a massive heart attack, they airlifted her to UK of Lexington, where we later found out that she had a heart attack yrs ago, and bottom part of her heart was dead with no hope of it recovery, and this heart attack she was having did alot of damage. Long story short, we spent 30+ day in CCU Unit, and the Drs not giving us any hope of her making it. Such a hard time in our life, but we fought, and my mom wasn't about to give up, so we was eventually moved up to the floor and spent about 6 days there then she was moved to rehab hospital. They told us to cherish everyday with her, we might have a yr, with only 15% of her heart functioning, but we made it through that yr and working on our 2nd yr. My point is, know your numbers, always have regular check-up, my mom quit smoking and so did my dad,,We just recently had a b-day party for my mom(59),dad(61),uncles,and we alot of our guests had been previous smokers, well when we went to light the candles,,Not a person had a lighter, we was a smoke-free party,,we did not realize that until we went to light the candles..The Dr. calls her a walking miracle. I am so blessed to stilll have her with us, I cherish everyday..Exercise, eat right and get your regular check-up,,,
