I have a husband and 3 kids so planning an entire dinner just for me doesn't really work. Kids and men burn alot more carbs than I do, so not giving them any carbs wouldn't be providing a balanced meal plus, it would make them grumpy and I don't want any part of that. Instead, I plan a dinner that works for me, i.e. chicken and veggies or salmon and salad, then I add something that I might not be able to have but is healthy like baked or boiled potatoes or brown rice. Then, everyone is happy, I don't have to fix separate meals, and in cycle 2 I'll be able to have a small portion of the additional item. Even though my husband isn't "following" the diet, I expect to see him drop some weight as well just because the dinners have changed.

I hear you on cooking two seperate meals although my meals are looking pretty good to my husband now.I don't think I have eaten this healthy in a long time and can tell by my energy level that my body appreciates it.I bet before long they will be wanting your meal.LOL.My husband is not doing this plan but I can see him making healthier choices just because he sees the change in me.Have fun on your journey Melanie.
I do the same, I made a low carb spaghetti sauce with ground turkey in it, my family had it over pasta, I put it over a piece of baked chicken. The sauce was thick and chunky enough to eat with a fork so I got a good serving of vegetable that way.
Melanierae1972 I usually put a few potatoes in the microwave for my husband, then he eats just like me plus a potato. It works for us.
