I am a Transsexual male to female and I've been living full time as female but still waiting for my Genital Reassignment Surgery. I was married for 37 years with 4 children 3 girls and 1 boy and 8 grandchildren. I knew I was different from an early age 6 or 7 and remember praying to let me wake up a girl. In the early 50's not much was known about us and I had no one or thing I could go to for help and always afraid I would be hurt if anyone knew what I wanted. I got married thinking this may help rid me of this wrong in me only to be sad I now have hurt someone's life besides mine. I lived in Maryland and one day I read the news paper out of Baltimore,Md. about a Dr John Money who was head of a clinic for Sexual Reassignment and thought maybe I could get help there. It was 1975 and by this time we had 2 small children but need to go hoping I could finally feel normal if I had this surgery. I went to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore to get help but instead asked to take 2 hours of mental test than was told there is nothing we can do for you because your married and only like female and you are depressed. This devastated me and nearly cost me my life and if it wasn't for my wife at the time I would have. I felt I only had one thing I could do and that was to put Leslie deep back inside of me and devote my life to my children which I did. The day came that my last child was married and on her own and now I said its my turn and started my transition for the second time at 57 years old. The hardest part was having to divorce my wife after 37 years of marrige but she told me she could not be a Lesbian for me and I said I understand and don't expect you to. I had a hard time convincing a lawyer to let me divorce my wife with no strings and she would get the house and everything in it which totalled 1 million dollars. The day I told my children was hard but by the next week they told me we just want to see you happy and we will always love you. I was very lucky that my children and my wife excepted me and I still talk to my Ex-wife. My life is a wreck right now because I have been without a job for 1 1/2 years now and I missed out on my surgery with Dr. Marci Bowers on 2/22/08 because I ran out of money. I hope and pray one day other people as myself won't need to suffer like myself and many others like me. I see my problem as a birth defect so why is that so hard for others to see instead of hurting us or killing us. Where are our rights and why can't the insurance companies and the government help us.

Hi all its been a long time since I've been here but I have good news my house sold and I go this coming Tuesday to close on a property in GA.. We made a good deal on both places recieving the amount we were looking for on our house and getting a forclosure with 4.59 acres with a trailer for 20,000. This should give me enough to have my finally surgery done....

I seem to find this everywhere people wanting to judge you. I judge no one but they ask I will and can give them my experience on that question. I think too many try to be your Therapist and try to tell you your faults. Support and help are one thing but putting someone down especially in front of everyone to see or read is wrong. If you are near any chain major book store please find a book called
WRITERS MARKET 2009
This gives names,address, contact to newspapers magazines, book publishers agents etc. YOUR life and all its pains etc has never ever been in vain.
Please I am sending this info to you because as I sit here and I type to you not only I feel this will help you and your life journey but think about that poor teenager who is sitting confused, who wants to kill himself thinking he is the only one whoever had those same feelings you my dear had before and your story, could save his life.
Being a REIKIMASTER I get certain information so I am sharing with you.
I will help you in anyway I can. In that book it also talks about submission requirements etc.

You are so right. No one has the right to tell anyone else how to live their lives. You are a big girl and you obviously are capable of handling your affairs. Have you had any successs in gettin further surgeries.? Is everything else going well? Try to put yourself in the other person's shoes. Maybe they don't realize they are being offensive. maybe? I think being grounded within yourself is critical no matter who you are.... There is speculation that lyme may be sexually transmitted, no one knows. 10 years before I was diagnosed, I just sensed we might need to protect my husband until I was diagnosed. Symptoms were diffuse and fleeting at best, but some how my body told me what to do - thankfully I listened. He is still lyme free today.... Not many spouses of chronic lyme patients can say that....
So I am happy you have put a few words to this subject.... its so important. Especially, when doctors are telling you otherwise, which can happen in many illnesses including lyme, its important to listen to your body first everything else second.
Grand children, great grand children. Time marches on.
As long as I can stand on my own feet and do what I want, I don't care how many more greats I have. I know I have the last grandchild. He is 16 so it won't be long I guess before he adds to the list....lol.
