I have been taking the Vitamin D for about a month now and cannot tell any difference in my well being... Does it take long to work???
Hi JWL, it helps to have some idea of what your blood level is. If you're taking 1,000 IU's, for example, and you started with a level of 5 ng/ml, your level will go up by approximately 10 ng/ml (sometimes not that much), and you will now be at 25 ng/ml. This would still be too low. In addition, if there is anything blocking vitamin D, this may either block absorption and your level isn't actually increasing, or you might have a good level now, but maybe you take large doses of vitamin A, which has now been found to compete with vitamin D at the receptor level, and vitamin D won't function well.
Have you had your blood level tested? Sorry, I think you told me at one time, and it's been too long. If you never did get it tested, do it now and let me know the level, and I can help you talk to your doctor about getting you to a healthy level.
