well how were you in high school?? if you were on top of everything in high school just kinda think college as high school , taking one thing at a time.. i know its hard but just try it, it may help.. trust me its easy to put things aside but when you get at it when you feel like it , it will only become harder.. you also my just have to force yourself to do it.. it may also just be that you have to get into the routine of things and being in college.. but once your in the routine things will eventually get put together..
hope this helps you.. all the best..
I totally understand what you are saying as I was a college freshman last year. It was really hard for me too at the beginning of the year to not procrastinate, but I looked at my roommate and saw what happens when you do. My roommate procrastinated in every class, leaving papers for the night before they were due or worse hours before they were due. She would due assignments like worksheets or research about 10 minutes before class and readings, ha ha she never did them. The result was that by midterm, she was failing pretty much every class and had pulled two all nighters and then stayed up untill 1:00 AM the third night to finish up her midterm papers which she put off untill the last minute. Also she didn't have to stay up until 1:00 AM the third day, but she was on FB (facebook) talking to people and didn't want to get off. She is really nice, the kind of person that pretty much everyone is friends with. So she didn't know how to say I got to go, well actually thats not true, she did, but didn't want to. Anyways, so that is another thing, you need to look at how much time you are spending on the internet and out with friends. If you are spending a lot of time on the internet, the best thing to do is to log off of all sites that you don't need for school. I know its impossible to not use internet for school work or I would suggest just shutting it off completely. If you have a subject you don't need your computer or internet for, then unplug the internet or go somewhere without wireless and don't plug your computer in. This will help you focus on just your homework. You can always, go back on after your homework is done. As for friends, just don't make plans untill your homework is done. You need some social life, but school work needs to come first.
I hope this helps!

Oh also after she stayed up those two nights in a row and then the third night stayed up untill 1:00, she slept through her 8:15 class and part of her 9:35 class, so that is probably not something you want to do.
