As much as I think it is very wonderful that the Doctor's program ended up raising $40,000 for the family of the premature baby, that is just a band aid for the millions of others that are in the same position. Unfortunately, not too many people can get on the Doctor's Show for financial or other help. I personally wrote to them asking about cosmetic surgery from my Crohn's Disease surgeries because the surgeons removed my umbilicus therefore I have no navel. They didn't even acknowledge my e-mail. I asked Dr. Ordon if they could possibly do anything for the re-creation of a navel and I got no response. I know they are inundated with e-mails, but they must have staff that can at least acknowledge they got your mail. Anyway, the help they gave the couple was a good thing but it sort of made me mad because, even thought they addressed health care, they didn't really have any answers for the masses. It was just like, "we will help this family and make the rest of the people losing their homes and have health concerns feel better". Yeah right. I know I probably sound like a bitch but I have had Crohn's Disease for 33 years and no one has helped me pay my bills. I think two people that try to be brokers in Real Estate are foolish in the first place. I am in part time real estate and there is no way I would want my husband and myself to do that job. It is too unpredictable; for this family to have depended on the market staying solid was just dumb. Everyone knew two years ago the housing market was on the decline. They said they made $200,000 two years ago. They were just lucky.

Exactly! Why are they any more deserving than any other family who's lives are drastically changing because of a bad economy?
I agree with your post and am so sorry that you haven't had any help. It was a heart breaking story about that little girl but at the same time there are people in worse off conditions. I say if you have little kids at least one of the parents should have an actual stable job in case anything bad happens. My heart goes out to that family but it would be unfair not to acknowledge the countless others that aren't lucky enough to go on the show and get help.
