I thought that with winter coming on I would be right back there, but so far so good.. Of course there are still down days, but they sure dont last as long.... Wish I could say all the pain from the things I have were gone too, but no such luck.. I...

Hi, JWL, sorry, but I stopped receiving notices that people have posted to my blogs and profile, so I am just now seeing your message about the nitrate free food list. The list is long. If you email me at larissalle@hotmail.com, I will email it to you in a Word document. If you'd rather not email me, I can post the list in the comments here, but it'll probably take about 40 comments to get it all in.
Hi... Very nice profile I love ur photo:) I'm new
Hi, JWL, in addition to my message just now, you might want to try going on a nitrate free diet. I am terribly allergic to nitrates. I have known about this for a long time, but I only recently got a diagnosis and now know it is for real. What it feels like is a gradual heaviness in my limbs, and then it starts to make me feel like crying, and I can feel very agitated like my body is fighting something inside, and then I feel what I can only describe as terrible depression and feelings of total failure. It's caused by the body's inability to deliver oxygen due to the nitrates.
Foods really high in natural nitrates and especially synthetic nitrates affect me. The allergy is caused by an enzyme that is a little different in people with this allergy than it is in other people. The nitrates bind to the enzyme and keep the hemoglobin from being able to recycle itself. If hemoglobin can't recycle itself, it can't pick up new oxygen to deliver it to the tissues. If I even have a bite of bread that has nitrates in it (sometimes called thiamin mononitrate, B, B1, thiamin, thiamine), I get symtpoms for a 3-8 hours. If I accidentally eat a whole meal that has nitrates, like some pork that I had a month ago that didn't used to be treated but now is being treated with nitrates, I was down for two days. Some fudge that I had this week that I just couldn't resist put me out for a day. Cocoa beans are treated with nitrates to preserve them. The nirates literally suffocate you because you don't get the oxygen you need.
If you'd like my list of foods to avoid, please let me know. I think it's worth trying. Between a possible vitamin D deficiency and a nitrate allergy, you might not really be depressed, just deficient and allergic.
Hi JWL, I posted this earlier on my site, and I wanted to re-post it here to make sure you see it. It helps to have some idea of what your blood level is. If you're taking 1,000 IU's, for example, and you started with a level of 5 ng/ml, your level will go up by approximately 10 ng/ml (sometimes not that much), and you will now be at 25 ng/ml. This would still be too low. In addition, if there is anything blocking vitamin D, this may either block absorption and your level isn't actually increasing, or you might have a good level now, but maybe you take large doses of vitamin A, which has now been found to compete with vitamin D at the receptor level, and vitamin D won't function well.
Have you had your blood level tested? Sorry, I think you told me at one time, and it's been too long. If you never did get it tested, do it now and let me know the level, and I can help you talk to your doctor about getting you to a healthy level.
In addition to my previous post, medications can block vitamin D. There is a list of them in this book: The side effects bible: the dietary solution to unwanted side effects of ... By Frederic J. Vagnini, Barry Fox. You can preview the page for free on Google Books.

Do you a big favor!!! When you get up next morning, go to the window, looking outside, and say " I AM GOING TO MAKE TODAY THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE. " Not because it's your B-day or the last day of your life. Today is the only day you've got, because you may not wake up tomorrow morning. Do it every morning. Old (age) friend, Sensei
Hi, have you had your vitamin D level checked? Low vit D causes chronic pain, depression, fibromyalgia, and a multitude of other illnesses. Many people with unexplained pain and many illnesses are vitamin D deficient. Getting tested is easy. See my profile for more info. Take care.
