Yesterday could not do my workout due to my bum knee. I started slowly spiraling with thoughts along these lines.
Not fair, why is it that everytime I am taking the initiative to change myself something comes up.
Now I can't exercise another thing to hold me down.
I can't.!
Then I heard myself saying what I so often tell my children, "Saying I can"t closes the doors of oppotuinity, giving up, saying theres no hope".
I went on line and search for exercises to strengthen , bum, painful, arthritic, chondromylacia knees. Did my first set this morning. I will be focusing on more floor exercises and walking for now until I can do more. Oh and investing in a knee support. Found Made Fit TV with Jennifer DiDonato and got some good tips on excercises.

Keep up with it! The water is important to drink all of it. Exercise will help also. Try to be patient, the weight will eventually come off! Have you been to the messageboards?

Please be grateful that it isn't a life threatening thing. Everything else is just an annoyance.
There is always hope around the corner. Sounds like you are doing a great job trying to figure out what is best for your knees. When I was going to PT, they recommended to build up your thigh and calf muscles. Use your knee support until you feel stronger. It takes time to heal. Think in the moment. : ) You are off to a great start!
