Where do I begin with this? I should probably start with "it shouldn't be happening". Afterall I'm just short of 20, I should be vibrant and healthy and in great shape! I think there may be a few contributing factors.
First, I am a very tense person. I've been in great shape but never able to even touch my toes without bending my knees. This tensity is all I'm used to, having come from a rather dark abusive background.
I got my first back injury when I was 17, at work, and my boss made me lift a very heavy box. Even though I said I'd rather one of the guys do it due to its weight and location, she said I had to comply or risk being fired, so I did. Regretted that. I went home sore and woke up the next day in severe pain, I could barely move without crying, and I'm not one to cry. It was unspeakable pain for over a week, so I went to the doctor. They x-rayed my back and said there wasn't a problem with my spine, it was just a lumbar strain. Of course, the x-rays were all blurry because the technician was gone for the day and they had a newbie replacement. They went so far as to say they thought something could be seriously wrong with my uterus (what the heck, I'm in for my back), but that was certainly wrong as I recently had a baby and the docs here, actual long-time professionals, say I'm about as good as it gets. At least I can be thankful for that. Needless to say, after my boss at work expected me to stand 8 straight hours and lift with a lumbar strain, I quit my job. My parents tried to sue because my boss refused to talk with them or address the injury even though I was a minor.
The injury eventually healed up, but I never quite felt back to tip-top shape, even with very extensive physical therapy. This last year I got yet another lumbar strain, even worst than the first, and almost couldn't bend at all. Any activity was excruciatingly painful: even not doing anything! My doc went to the extreme and gave me Oxycontin. Well, it did get rid of that initial unbearable pain, but I've still been feeling moderate pain ever since.
Now I'm at home, and my back hurts like heck. It's a very specific location of pain, either just to the left or right of the lower spine in 2 areas, and while it's always sore, sometimes I feel a sharp pinch that sends me feeling hurt, stiff, and dizzy. Very dizzy.
Could I possibly have a spinal problem? What could it be? I do have PTSD and PPD, which I know makes it worse, but if it's a specific pinching I tend to think it's something different. The doctors have never been able to find anything though. What could it be? It always feel like something's stabbing into my flesh, or someone with pointed nails is pushing into my lower back as hard as they can.
My doctor wants to prescribe me more Oxycontin, but that's a hard drug and I don't like taking medicine if I can help it. I see it as only delaying or putting off the problem when I want the problem itself addressed. Where do I go from here? It's so immensely frustrating as because of my back problem now I can't work or take care of the little one by myself.

I was struck with this same type of pain at the age of 24. One minute I was shaving my legs in the shower, the
next I was flat on the bottom of the tub, for no apparent reason. I have suffered from this pain now all my life,
but I can tell you a few things to make it better. If your doctor has not recomended trying a "TENS" unit, you may
want to mention it to them. It is a small electrical device that attaches to your lower back and releases a small
amount of electrical impulse. It can break the pain cycle from your brain to your back.
You should also make sure you have an MRI, I can't believe you havent had one already. I had plain old x-rays
several times with no results. It wasnt until my Dr. did a MRI that my disc's showed up like they should, and he
could see the damage clearly, but please dont let them wait for 12 years (like me) to do it. I had surgery which
helped, but you have many more options now. If you work with a pain specialist, they may be able to get you
some lumbar shots. They sound scary and hurt like hell when you are getting them, but they are sooooo
worth it in the end. They can give you pain free days for months at a time!!
If you can get off the drugs, please do as soon as possible!!! I decided I wasnt going to use drugs until
the last resort because they will cause a bad change on the inside of your body as well as the way you think
and look. These meds will cause liver toxication, with can give you skin problems and a bunch of other stuff which
I wont go into (stomach, constipation etc).
I will wait for you to get this, and if you want some advice I would be happy to help, I just saw so much of what I
went through at your age, I really do "get it"!!

This will help with diagnosis, find an Upright or Stand UP MRI near where you live. Traditional MRI has its' purpose however getting a MRI in position of pain, symptom, injury or pathology will be better to detect your problem.
