Hello everyone,
Ever since I got an angiogram of my retina to check out a blind spot in my eye, I have received a TON of emails and letters from concerned viewers wanting to know if I’m okay. A lot of you were just as shocked as I was when we heard the ophthalmologist say the words that one hopes to never hear, “We need to rule out a brain tumor!” I have said those words many times to patients over the years, but WOW is it different when it’s referring to me!
Of course, the doctor said that it was pretty unlikely… but then my mind started playing tricks on me over the next few days … What does “pretty unlikely” really mean? Is that better than “VERY unlikely”? I really started to worry … each little headache seemed a little more serious, each lapse of concentration started make me wonder … heck, I even teared up while having breakfast with my kids as I pondered how I might have to give them some bad news…
Rationally, I know that the odds are highly in my favor, but then I also know that cancer is something that likes to go against the odds sometimes. I do thank all of you for your concern and deep down, I think everything will be fine. But I’ll know for sure in a few days when I get a CT scan (cat scan) of my head. Then we’ll all know for certain. I’ll keep you posted and thanks for your kind support. More from this episode.
Dr. Jim

Dr. Jim, thank you for the update. Where would the Doctors TV program be without you?! You certainly not only make a difference in the show but to the lives of the people that watch it. The Doctors TV show really brings out the "human" side of Doctors. I (for one, and alot of others I know) am a viewer that appreciates all that you do on the show from the very silly to the very serious. Your honesty and openness of your medical concerns is also appreciated. Many blessings.

Hi Dr. Sears,
We have all been wondering how you are doing and about the outcome of the CT scan.
Please keep us informed.
God Bless.
Linda
I understand your mind tricks, When I had my heart attack a year ago, my doctor said that I had a 30 to 40% blockage of one artery. I freak at any pain in my chest (which I have alot of) and I feel like I have a dark cloud hovering over me all the time. Am I gonna live to see this or that. And the worst of it is that I smoke. I have tried everything to quit. I also have palpatations so I am afraid of the patch. I tried that new pill Chantix. I almost ended up in the hospital from severe stomach pains that I was told later could be caused from the Chantix. So I had to quit taking it. So I know to well the tricks the mind can play on you when you are unsure. I have faith, so keep your head up and all will be well I am sure. I love your show and I try never to miss it. I think yall are the best thing to happen to TV in years!! I will have alot of questions for you, so get used to my name...LOL.
Thanks for the update!

hi.i thought the follow up show was on today.it wasn't.anyone have any news on the mri?thanks
please update us soon
Dr. Jim,
Hope everything goes well with your CT. I just submitted a show topic about something similar my daughter is dealing with. It is called a cracked macula. There is little information on the web about this and her story is very unique. I would love for parents to hear about it. She will be having another surgery on March 9th.
thanks for keeping me up dated I hope everything comes back fine. It should cause you seem like a healthy guy and you sure do crack me up laughing alot. But that is also good medicine. keep up the good work Dr Sears. I sure would love to go to LA and meet the 4 of you maybe some day I will. I think Lisa needs to keep you guys in better line or maybe she needs a little help I could help her keep you men in line she can keep you and dr ordon in line and I will keep Travis in line (joking). Tell Travis I said happy birthday and with a smile.
Dr. Jim,
I'm hoping everything turns out well with your CAT scan. I know, very well, how it feels when an eye doctor says you have something wrong. I was diagnosed with Retinal Holes, or tears, about 7 years ago. I have had laser procedures done twice since and then and it's not fun! I get an eye exam every 6 months and it scares me everytime. I had a recent exam about a month ago and for the first time, it came back ok.
I understand this is not the same as being told you could have a brain tumor, but I get the concept of bad news whn you're not expecting it. I pray you're ok. Good luck and let us know.
Dr. Sears,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I do know how you feel. I have an abnormally high prolactin level (with unknown cause). The doctors told me they wanted to rule out a pituitary tumor. It is quite frightening, but I just "know" that all will be okay. Think positive. :) Keep your sense of humor in tact.
Sue
Dr, I'm waitting 4 good news....
Hi Dr. Jim,
Thank you for the update on your blog. I just know you are going to be okay. I could feel how nervous you were as I've been nervous like that before too. My family (Mom's side) has not so good heart history. I make sure to see my cardiologist whenever something feels strange. Turns out I have some palpitations. Not too bad, just have to keep it in check.
Your show is so great, I always get something positive from it.I love that you all share your stories and letting us know about anything that has to do with our health. The Doctors touch on so many subjects each week and this is the best "real" shows. The only one I watch!
Please let us know how you make out with your tests. I will keep you in my thoughts as I am sure all of the other fans are doing too.
Jeri
