Prepare your body for summer!
Summer is almost here, and most of us could use a body tune-up. I have been doing some things myself, so I thought of 10 things that anyone can do to get a beach-ready body.
10. Eat cookies. My fellow doctors on the show and I tried the Smart for Life Cookie Diet. You eat a special cookie that sort of grows larger in your stomach and makes you feel full. So we don't snack, and we eat smarter because we never get too hungry.
9. Get calves. Anyone can firm up their calves any time of day -- just do some toe raises! Whether you are in an elevator, brushing your teeth, waiting in line at the coffee shop, just push up on your toes, raising your heels up. Repeat 20 times and do that 10-15 times a day. Ladies, you will have to step out of your high-heeled shoes for this to work! If that doesn't work, there's always calf implants.
8. Get your tan in a can. Or, get the latest spray tan! I am opposed to direct sun tanning and tanning beds. I have treated too many skin cancers to be a fan of the natural tan. Fake tans no longer look fake, orange or artificial. Today's canned tans are very natural looking; giving you a sun-kissed look without the risk.
7. Manscape. Women love some hair, but there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. We featured manscaping on several shows, and you can have it performed at a salon, or you can do it yourself! If you do it yourself, try using a beard trimmer on your arms, chest, legs and elsewhere.
6. Moisturize. Changes in seasons can throw your skin for a loop. Wearing less clothing means more sun exposure that can parch your skin in a hurry. Moisturize every single time your dry off from the shower. And drink more water so that you are moisturizing inside and out!
5. Shades. Longer days and more intense sunlight can be hard on the eyes, and excessive squinting can cause crow’s feet. Get fitted for some stylish shades with UVA protection to protect both your eyes and your vision, while projecting a summer cool.
4. Welcome to the gun show! Michelle Obama has proven that sexy biceps aren't just for men! You can work your biceps almost anytime while you’re carrying your briefcase, groceries or shopping basket. Whenever you have a chance, work on those guns and focus on them when you do go to the gym.
3. Smile brightly! Pearly whites always look great against tanned skin. Teeth whitening, bleaching, or laser treatments will have you smiling wide and looking great all summer long.
2. Sun block. Applying adequate sunscreen protection will help you this summer and for many more to come. Blocking harmful UV rays of the sun you will allow your skin to look younger, smoother and more vibrant this summer and next.
1. Neck it! Spring fashions highlight the neck. No more turtlenecks and scarves to hide the jaw line! We often use Thermage to help our patients tighten their necks without undergoing surgery. I do it, and I think everyone age 45 on up can benefit from this procedure. Or try the new Skintyte procedure, perfect for sagging skin.
Don't procrastinate! Do all ten, starting today!

So here goes! I did sign the 2010 health challenge and commitment to myself on Jan. 4, 2010 and I have lost 57 pounds to date. My starting weight was 205 and I'm now 148. I still have a little more to go but, most of it is going to be trying to get things toned up. I'm saying that much might not happen since I had to have my gallbladder removed after the birth of my second child and it was before they could do the small incitions. I have lots of hanging skin and unfortunatly I can't afford to have the surgery to get it removed. I remember one of the moms from an old show refering to it as her apron. That's me and I hate what I see in the mirror. Maybe someday I will get fortunate enough to afford the surgery but, if not I'm stuck with my apron. I guess that's one of the down falls of letting myself go and gaining all the weight. I feel so much better health wise and just wanted to say " Thank you" for openning my eyes and making me see that I could do it if I just set my mind to it. I record the new shows daily and enjoy all the knoledge that I gain from it. So Thank you again Doctors for making me see the light! P.S. please excuse any of my misspelling.

Dr O,
such good advice thank you so much.
I have lost 52 pounds since Jan 12 on the 17 day diet and have another 10-15 pounds to go. My question is with the loss, my eyelids are very "droopy" now and everyone tells me that an eye lid lift is called for. Is there anything that I can do for this? I can feel it all the time and at times it impairs my vision. Can you give me a little hope? I also quit smoking last November after smoking for 40 years. So smoke free and weight loss is an awesome feeling. Weight loss is due to Dr Phil and the Doctors TV programs. Thats where I found out about the 17 day diet and have been watching both programs since Jan.
Keep up the awesome programs!!
