Chin Augmentation

Hello blog readers and writers!

My three fellow doctors and I love doing things live in the studio whenever possible. That's why we did a non- surgical chin augmentation with Radiesse (TM) in this show. See the procedure here! It adds a measure of fun to hear and see a live audience response to both the procedure happening and what we call the "reveal".  Most of the time our patient and audience are seeing the before-and-after for the very first time at the very same moment. And I think, once again, we came up with a great result! But a bit more about chin augmentation. There are three ways to do it:

1)  Mandibular Osteotomy Mentoplasty.  We cut the jaw bone (mandible) and slide a portion forward and then wire it into place. Anytime we cut bone, it's a big deal.  The results with this technique are permanent, but the recovery time is weeks, not hours or days.

2)  Chin Implant Mentoplasty.  We slide a smooth silastic (silicone based plastic) implant through a small incision inside the mouth to where it will reside forever. The results are permanent, unless the patient does not like it. Unlike option #1, the results are completely and easily reversed or altered if the patient desires, so we augment the chin most often this way. The recovery takes several days.

3)  Injection Mentoplasty. We like Radiesse for this because of its long lasting, reliable results. That's how we did it on The Doctors and the results were immediate.

Options are good!

Hi Dr. Ordon. Let me start by saying I love the show...I was interested in having an eye lift and laser surgery done to my face, as I am 39 y/o and I used to smoke in the past...I feel as though I really damaged my skin from smoking and I have a good bit of wrinkles....mainly under my eyes. I did write a letter to be on your show...hope you guys get it...Anyway, I am kind of scared of the laser and was wondering if it actually burns the skin off and will there be a lot of scabbing...Also, I was wondering if it is possible for somebody to mess me up doing this procedure.....I already have low self-esteem...don't need to make it worse.....

Thanks,

Sherry

Hello Dr. Ordon,  I love the  show very much. I hope it never goes off air!

I was interested in having laser done for acne scars in my face, but I’m  scare since I've heard horrible things about laser.  What do you recommend?

Thanks,

Cosmetic surgery is significant and a popular business in the modern world. Many are taking risks for simple improvements that do not improve health, but rather it does improve the quality of life for the individual, regardless of the reasons.
