Acid Mouth?

The human stomach is a powerful bag of acid that leaks the wrong direction. Almost every day I ask a few patients who have 'bad teeth' if they have heart burn...some don't but may admit they have a problem with acid reflux but haven't seen their doctor about it.

Dentists and hygienists may be giving the wrong advice by thinking flossing, brushing and the right toothpaste will prevent tooth decay. If the stomach acid is the real problem, doing what your hygienist says is like trying to stop a grizzly with a pea shooter. Your teeth will literally get eaten alive by stomach acid...often right down to the gumline.

Learn as much as you can about GERD...it could save you thousands in dental work.

If GERD is controlled by medication  does it still pose a problem?

As long as the condition is controlled then the damage to the teeth shouldn't continue. The problem is it can still leak acid without any symptoms.

As mentioned in the 'toxic toothpaste' posting, ACID REFLUX is killing teeth across the country. Even MD's don't respect the extent of this disorder as shown in this video, doctors are often victims too...
