This term was coined to represent a condition where a person is obsessed with having a 'Perfect Smile'. The problem is the cosmetic dentists can't define what it is, and even orthodontists can't agree on a definition of straight teeth. The patient generally wants super-white teeth and fusses over very minor details which most overlook.

This is not a joke...there are people with an OCD form of mental illness that really take their smiles too seriously. They are easy victims of irreversible extreme smile makeovers but they are so difficult to please that a dentist can really wish they never met a person with this problem. The new 'Hollywood Smile' may soon be the one that is not overdone...complete with a few twists, chips, and spaces...white but not glow-in-the dark. Sometimes less is more!
