Xanthelasma so many suffer from it!

Xanthelasma are sharply demarcated yellowish collection of cholesterol underneath the skin, usually on or around the eyelids and while not life-threatening or painful but can cause severe emotional distress.

I know first hand and for the past year have spent most of my time living behind the computer rather than venture out into public because Xanthelasma is so hideous. I was once vivacious, outgoing and always enjoyed taking photos and being photographed with friends. But now that this condition can no longer easily concealed behind cover-up ... I was hoping that The Doctors TV show could shed some light on treatments to help the millions that endure this emotional scaring like I do.

I have read there is laser treatment, chemical treatment and a few other methods, but have yet to find a Doctor I trust to work on my face and that closely to my eyes!

Please shed some light on this horrific condition and help millions!

It's time to come out from behind the shadows and wash off the over done coverup!
Thanks!

I always thought I was alone with my problem. I would like to know how to safely treat this also

Ask your doctor for a vitamin D test.  It's called a 25(OH)D test.  From your description, I'd be surprised if you aren't severely deficient.  It's and easy blood test.  If you don't have insurance, there is a home test kit that is very good.  Let me know if you'd like more info, or see my profile.

Thanks for the reply. No I'm not Vitamin D deficient. I’ve even read on some medical boards that taking cholesterol lowering medication can reduce them but that’s an Urban Myth. As for blood tests, I've had every blood test on the planet & see my Dr. regularly and have some of the best Drs. on the planet. I have been to dozens of plastic surgeons in Chicago, Boston, NY & Beverly Hills and even phoned Dr. Orson’s office to ask if he treated this problem & his office responded No. I have talked to 2 Dermatologists that treat this but I have no faith in them since they advertise on the internet. I'm very medical savvy and have a background in cosmetic treatments. Some of the self-help treatments that have been suggested are very dangerous and yet, I’ve tried them such as placing Salicylic Acid & Alpha Hydroxyl on them. There isn't anything I haven’t tried over the past year to shrink them or get rid of them. I have tried ever Urban Myth or Quack Natural-Organic treatment around. All to no avail. But thanks for sharing and I recommend that EVERYONE have a panel of blood tests at least once a year!

i am very worried because i have chronic pain and i also have xanthelasma on my eyes.  I was checked and i am vitamin D deficient and also have a wheat allergy.  I take 1000 iu of vitamin d everyday but i am wondering if you think vitamin D deficiency has something to do with my xanthelasma on my eyes.  it's making me depressed and miserable and i would like some answers as my cholesterol is excellent.  could it be the vitamin D defieciency?
