I had a nasty charlie horse/muscle spasm the other morning in bed, that could've have been a blood clot? It tightened up my calf and slowly traveled up my leg with heat and odd intense pain and cramping for about 10 to 15 minutes. I am on B/P meds. I think the public show be educated on this stuff more, even a home remedy would have been a help at that time.Any suggestions??

Oh I know how you feel.I get those and they hurt so bad.Somebody told me it was from a lack of potassium. When I was pregnant many moons ago,I use to get them all the time and the doctor told me to stand on cold cement.I don't know how that is suppose to help, but I will do whatever to now have the pain.
I would mention it to your doctor... if it is a clot you wouldn't want it travelling to another part of your body.
Melissa.
The problem is from a lack of potassium. I will share one of my fool proof remedies. Soon as a cramp/spasm
starts, drink a half glass of pickle juice. Instantly gone!!!!
Can be a lack of potassium...better safe than sorry....CALL YOUR DOCTOR!
Hi, I know what you mean about a charlie horse. I have had several myself. The only thing I can offer is to walk on it and stretch it and then with your leg up on the box spring of the bed and stretch it some more. Just breath and work through it. This is what has worked for me in the past. Also you may want to visit further information on this web site. At last resort go to WEBMD.COM
Hi, I too am a sufferer of leg cramps, I stand on my feet all
day at work and I always had these. I had one really bad one
that traveled down to my foot from my calf an lasted for over
fifteen minutes. It was very scarey for me, when I told my dr.
he put me on over the counter magnesium, I take three a day
and he said it wouldn't hurt me. I asked cause I already take
more meds than I like. I don't take meds well, even a 81mg
aspirin causes severe nose bleeds. I am very worried about
blood clots an take bp meds, even traveling in a car, I used
to get bad cramps. You may ask your doctor about magnesium.
I have been on potassium since a hysterectomy so it wasn't
the potassium that was the problem for me. Sludge
