The doctors show has said Botox is good for relieving migraines.

I'm exactly the same as you... or at least used to be.  I spent many years being controlled by awful migraines.  I too took excederin migraine and it does work to a point.  Finally, I had an allergy test and was describing my symptons of migrains and what triggered them.  I don't know about you, but I'm very sensitive to the weather's barometer changes and smells.  Well, what it came down to were allergies.  I started two nasal inhalers immediately and haven't had a migraine in nearly 5 plus years.  I feel your pain and wish you the best in finding someway to controll your migraines.

You need to see a neurologist . I expect you have already seen a primary doctor an allergist and an ophtalmologist. What you deascribed seems to impair your daily life . do not wait...

In the past, I suffered from monthly migraines.  The migraines were associated with my menstrual cycle.  Also, anything with MSG triggers them.  I suffered terribly, prescribed several different meds that never worked. My sister-in-law told me about Imitrex (25 mg) years ago.  It's worked for me.  I also stay away from red wine and I try to stay away from foods that have MSG. Since menopause, the migraines have decreased, with the occassional one from food. Talk to your gynocologist and watch the foods you eat. Oh yeah, stress triggers migraines also!!

It is time for you to see a neurologist. You need to talk to your primary physician about these on going migraines and have them refer you to a good neurologist. Also, don't take the Excederin too much because that can also cause you to get what is called a rebound headache from taking pain medication too often. I suffer from Chronic Daily Headache Syndrome with Migraines which means I have a headache every day.  I have headaches that I can deal with on a daily basis and then I have headaches where I completely laid-up.  So, seriously talk to your physician and I wish you all the best.

I suffered from weekly migraines, using Imitrex for relief.

My GP prescribed birth control pills and a dozen different meds, including Topamax to try & prevent them. Nothing worked.

I otained a hysterectomy.  No relief.

I then went to a Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery Center for Botox.  The woman who treated me is a PA.  She is very knowledgeable about Botox for migraine relief and had also found that Neurologists tended to poo-poo Botox as a solution.  After 10 minutes, 20 units and $300, I found my cure!  It took about 2 weeks to kick in but I have been migraine free for a full month!

I encourage anyone with migraines to give it a try.  If you're worried about injecting a toxin into your body, research death from Botox verses too much Tylenol.  I bet Botox is safer!

I am told that migraine relief from Botox will last for 3-4 months, but regular users can often go 6 months between procedures.  This PA also said that she finds that those patients, whose migraines start in the forehead area (as opposed to the base of the neck), have the most success with Botox.  Seek out someone with experience because if they don't know where to inject the Botox, you won't obtain relief.
