What if we stopped operating from a "deficit model"?

What if we stopped looking at ourselves in terms of what's lacking? What if we could come to terms with ourselves as we are today -- the good and the bad? What if we stopped using food to fill ourselves up when the emptiness comes from emotions we are unable or unwilling to face? What if when we felt hunger, we could sit quietly and trust ourselves to figure out what we're really hungry for -- what we really need to fill the void we feel. See the thing about eating is that it's temporary. Once we've finished the food, we're still hungry; the emotions we tried to distract ourselves from feeling are still with us. What if we could accept and love ourselves for who we are inside rather than how we look on the outside? We're all starving for something. Recognize it. Embrace it. Feel it. Deal with it. Once we feel confident to face our biggest fears, to survive that which hurts, to act where action is required and wait where time will heal, then our relationship with food changes. It loses its power over us. We eat to live rather than living to eat. It's not about what we're eating. It's about what's eating us. So, what if we stopped operating from a deficit model -- what we should be doing, what we aren't doing, what we are unhappy with, what we want to change? We might feel naked. But we might get reacquainted with ourselves -- who we are as people. Are you loving? Loyal? Passionate? Caring? Nurturing? Curious? Giving? This is where your worth is. This is who you are. And because you are who you are meant to be, you deserve the life you want. So lose those extra pounds, shed the shackles that are holding you back, celebrate your mental and physical health because you deserve it. Good luck to all of you. How caring we all are to one another -- a group of anonymous people who have come together for no other reason than to support and encourage one another. Something special is happening here.

Well said Bella.  Some of us are reading a book called MadetoCrave.  We found it on the website MadetoCrave.org  I believe you will find it a worthwhile journey.
