How A 5 Pound Box of Chocolate That I Ate Brought Me Success

Some of you may have read my blog yesterday about my binge with the 5 pound box of chocolate. With all the nice comments people made, one stood out: Ishabazz told me: Well, I may be the only one to tell you that I am happy you found them chocolates and ate the whole box.  It made me laugh and then I thought why not laugh? This journey towards health should be joyful. Should I have eaten the whole damn box? No. But, was it the end of the world ? No. It also made me think about dieting in general and how when I started this journey I said something to myself like " You need to roll up your sleeves and  get serious here. You can do this." But Ishabazz helped me realize that this doesn't need to be all business. Taking time to laugh and be joyful in celebrating the journey we've embarked on it crucial. As we lose the weight, we don't want to also lose our senses of humor. This slight change in temperment from serious to light makes the dieting turn from  task to reward; this is something good I'm doing for myself. I'm treating myself to whole foods and beautiful walks in nature and a whole new world of virtual friends out there. So thanks, Ishabazz for reminding us all to lighten up inside as we lighten up physically. BTW, another .2 pounds yesterday and NO chocolates :)

Vickma, you'll get the hang of it. Basically you have to learn to give up control. If you follow the diet, it will work unbelievably. But, if you engage in the "tweaking" that many food addicts find themselves doing to maintain control (i.e. "I can't drink lemon water hot.", "I can't eat steamed veggies plain; I have to add salt.", "Fat free tastes like cardboard so I'm going to buy full fat cheese." -- you get the idea) then you won't be successful. It comes down to whether or not you REALLY want to lose the weight. Why's it there in the first place? What's it insilating you from? What role has overr eating played in you life? If you can find a different way to deal with your problems, anxiety, depression, boredom, feelings of worthlessness -- whatever has caused the overeating, then you will emerge like a butterfly into a new understanding of who you are, what you represent, and the true value you have. Stay in touch!

@ BellaBearGirl,

Ishabazz, I did meet my goal and even passed it. Now, eating is effortless; I'm just used to eating a certain way now. The old "junkfoods" I used to eat don't even appeal to me anymore.  Now, I'm going through a modified version with my husband who suddenly sat up and took notice. He's on day 13 and down 12 pounds. Even now that I can eat a little more freely, I have no desire to. I actually look forward to salads because I think they're good! Go figure! I feel  like I'm privy to a big secret -- this diet -- that everyone should have access to. Everyone at work today was asking a coworker about some powder she orders online and drinks to lose weight and get vitamins and I didn't feel the need to push myself onto them. I figured I'd let the experience do the teaching. When they ask, I share. But you can't force people to change. When and how they proceed has to be their choice. So many people are looking for a magic cure -- a powder or pill that will do the trick. But you can't eat like that forever. Sooner or later you have to return to real food. This diet arms you with knowledge.

Great to hear the AWESOME NEWS, YOU HAVE PASSED YOUR GOAL. HIP HIP HOORAY, HIP HIP HOORAY!! That is the best news I heard all day. Well, maybe not. LOL. I found the 17DD recipe site with the recipes for the cycle you are in. Is that not cool or what. :0

May I asked you how long you invested in the plan to reach where you are now. Also will you share how much total weight? Please, I need to be realistic. I have not been honest to the plan always cause I did not know where to buy some of the stuff. REALLY. I never heard of probotics and all that kind of stuff. LOL. This week I got all of it and alot of vegs and fruits. I am doing it as close as I can.w/o tweekin' I have not really added the exercise piece and i know how important that is. Just do not feel like exercising and i used to love it. WITHOUT FAIL not now. :(

I am so happy to hear that your husband has jumped on the band wagon. This is what I am praying for myself. That honey gets with the program. LOL... He retired 6 years ago and retired me along with him and he looks a mess LOl Plz don't tell him I said that out loud. :0

I really hear you about those quick fixes of weight loss. There is just no way around it. If I get it/ understand that, than come on now!!  I really got to get with the spirit and start exercising I realize how important it is. Hope to hear from you soon with some helpful hints.

Congrats on the wonderful news of your success. One more time... May you be able to be blessed to continue this pattern for the rest of your life. Take your stroll down the RUN WAY :0  Thanks for the encouragement, keeping it real & inspiring. I see you as my unoffical mentor. Go figure right. tifa  ♥ ♥

Tifa, I didn't have a whole lot to lose. Luckily I got things under control before I got to an extreme. I lost a total of 14 pounds. That being said, it was hard work. When you have LOTS to lose I think initially your body sheds big numbers because it can afford to. As you lose weight, there just isn't as much there to lose.  I carry most of my weight between my waist and knees. It was slow going, but I did it; it would have been easy to just give in and give up. All of you, kept me in the game. About the exercise, I used to love it too -- liked weight lifting. After back surgery and continued physical therapy, I really just walk now. Occasionally do lunges through the house or try push ups. But mostly just walking. When it's cold outside it's hard to get motivated, but once you're out there it isn't so bad and it's kind of a habit now. I get a travel mug of coffee and head out. What I've noticed is the sounds of birds, the sunlight, limb configurations on trees, the leaves and trees by the creeek. Moving slower through life -- via walking rather than zipping around in the car -- has helped me reconnect alittle with childhood when life was slower and there was wonder in noticing squirrels and rabbits and deer. I'm actually enjoying the songs of the birds and the sounds of wind through the trees. Crazy huh? Just another dimension of this diet. (They just said I wrote too much. So look below.)

Tifa, (This is part two. lol)

So, YOU, sound like you are recommitting -- arming yourself with food and gearing up to give it a serious "go". You can do this! You will just feel so good about yourself when you do it! When you don't let yourself down yet again. When you stick with something you were really alittle unsure about being able to stick with. You will feel empowered! I don't know how it happened that two strangers came together through the internet, but I kind of feel like your "diet buddy". And really, it IS true; we can do anything for 17 days.I'm sticking around to check up on you! Maybe when your new sexy shape emerges, your hubby will sit up and take notice and jump on the wagon too. Right now he's probably thinking "Here we go again. Another diet for Tifa." Well you show him! You let him see your inner strength and resolve at work. Hang in there and get moving!!
