I am a 35 year old female, born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus.as well as a few other health complications.About 4 years ago I moved to Saskatchewan to be with my ex-fiance.At that time I weighed about 179 lbs,and the only major health problems I had was kidney damage, high blood pressure, and anxiety attacks.About 6 months after I moved there,I started landing in the ICU frequently, and was told I had carbon dioxide in my system, due to the environment/chemicals in the air(specific to Saskatchewan).I also started having chronic diarrhea(4-5 times a day)which consequently made me lose 63lbs.Due to the Spina Bifida,I had a dysfunctional bowel to begin with, but was always able to regulate it,and never had diarrhea except if I had a diet drink,or ate something that had turned bad.Ive had numerous colonoscopies, intestinal x-rays,a barium, and been tested for parasites,MRSA,C-Diff,and everything else you could think of,but they all come out negative!
I was told at one point it MIGHT be IBS,so I consulted a dietician, and started a special IBS diet.....even cutting out milk, and other dairy products from my diet, for over a month, but nothing changed.I have also bounced back and forth using liquid codeine and Immodium, but after my body gets used to it,it stops working.
I am at my wits end!As I said,I am 35 years old,and I have lots of friends(and a potential boyfriend),and I love to go out,but this chronic diarrhea really puts a damper on not only my intimate/sex life, but my social life as well, and I am tired of it......does anyone have any suggestions,or know anyone with similar problems?

You need to write down everything you eat and drink from day to day. Anything and everything. It could be a cup of coffee that is the entire problem or the combination of your medicines. As far as the CO problem, have you had the levels checked in the home you are staying? Do you need to consider being on O2 when you are sleeping at night? I work as a CNA I see alot of people with alot of very life threatening problems in the end stages. It is always the simple things that need to be considered first. You may need to have a pharmasist check your meds and see if you have any conflicts. I hope this helps. Miki (westgafencelady)
I am a Respiratory Therapist and I don't quite understand the explanation they gave you regarding carbon dioxide. Did they tell you any thing else about it?
