I am a 37 yr old mom and I have a beautiful son. His name is Jarrod. He is seven years old and he is bright, loving, and an extremely happy child. He developed normally and was even starting to say Mom and Dad.  One evening I noticed how congested he still was from a previous cold he had gotten 2 weeks before. He started running a 103 fever so we rushed him to the hospital where he was diagnosed as contracting the RSV virus. After weeks in the hospital he recouped very nicely. However I noticed he had changed. He was not developing normally. He stopped talking altogether, he didn't walk till he was 16 months, and he was not responding to his environment at all. Over the years his father and I split up and he is total denial of his son’s condition. Meanwhile Jarrod was getting worse because of no structure in his life.  So I took over.  I got him enrolled in every early intervention program there is. I have him in Occupational therapy, Physical therapy, and he has a Speech Therapist once a week.  His has made improvements by great leaps and bounds but has not been able to grasp the concept of basic social skills.  He has the most stunning blue eyes that could put a warm July summer morning to shame. He has so much potential that he could potentially be a mathematician, scientist, lawyer, or maybe even better! He is very intuitive and curious about everything, as every child should be...only one small setback...Jarrod has Autism.
