I am a retired Psychiatric Nurse Clinician with 4 sons. all of whom have been military.  Youngest is still in AF; a Major at Brook City Base where he wrote and teaches the curriculum for advanced medevac officers.  He served as a medevac Officer all over the Middle East for the past 6-7 years. Our family is truly International.  My husband is a Syrian born son of missionaries - fluent in Arabic.  One son married a German girl (beautiful) another a French very talented nurse.  All have traveled extensively and have lived overseas for varying lengths of time - Cyprus (me), Germanym, Russia, and many other short term places.

We are caretakers part time for 5 & 7 yr old grandchildren since the death of their mother with cancer 2 years ago.  The girl recently developed constant headache, vomiting, double vision and after MRI, LP, CT with contrast, and diagnosed with pseudotumor cerebri.  The pressure was so great in her brain that the 6th cranial nerve was paralyzed and the pressure on the optic nerve was very high.  She was treated at Childrens Mercy in Kansas City and is on Diamox 125 tid.  We are getting different stories about recurrence, length of time on meds, etc.  She had NO risk factors; no steriod use, no obesity and very young.  Can you enlighten us any more on her prognosis?
